About Us

Upsilon National School

Upsilon, the 20th letter of the Greek alphabet, is known as Pythagoras’ letter or the Samian letter that represents several stars in astronomy. It is a binary star located 44 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Andromeda. The word Upsilon was used as an emblem of the path of virtue or vice. Hence, to shower the lights in the form of knowledge, Upsilon National School has been serving the nation for more than a decade. With the slogan of innovative education, it has been using an innovative teaching-learning approach to produce global citizens with enlightenment in young aspiring minds. We have introduced contemporary methods of teaching based on a practical approach. Our primary aim has always been to empower the mind and lead the diverse genres of the world so that our learners could both think and act globally.

We believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially and develop their self-esteem and core values. It is our desire as educators to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that we believe are conducive to establishing such an environment: the educator acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.

Helping students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others, and their environment occurs through an open sharing of ideas and a judicious approach to discipline. When the voice of each student is heard, an environment evolves where students feel free to express themselves. We believe children have greater respect for their teachers, their peers, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and sure of what is expected of them. In setting fair and consistent rules initially and stating the importance of every activity, students are shown respect for their presence and time. In turn, they learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment.

Upsilon National School is situated in Gokarneshwor-06, in the northeast part of Kathmandu. The school is easily accessible from different parts of the valley. The place is well connected by the public transport system. The school boasts highly experienced faculty members with enormous industry experience. Comfortable classrooms, a computer lab, and a sports arena for games like futsal and basketball are some of the highlights of the school.

  1. Creating and sustaining a culture that supports the teaching-learning process.
  2. Strengthening institutional structures that promote pedagogical innovations.
  3. Strengthening the educational impact of opportunities and experiences for students.
  4. Promoting the health and well-being of students.
  5. Ensuring that all academic units have a robust form of assessment that includes student feedback and peer assessment.

  9. Ensuring faculty members, as teachers and advisors, recognize the importance of student health and well-being for learning, academic success, and general success in life.

Academic Activities

UN School not only focuses on academic learning but also emphasizes the overall development of young aspiring minds. Bookish knowledge may make an individual educated, but it cannot ensure the skills required to master life. In addition to traditional methods, we offer skill-based teaching-learning activities.

Community Work

As an integral part of the community, we are eager to support and contribute to its well-being. We instill responsibility and dedication in our students for the attainment of common goals, ensuring positive change. Our community work includes assisting people affected by natural calamities, maintaining cleanliness, campaigning for heritage preservation, and protecting people's rights.

Field Visits

We want our students to be researchers by exposing them to the practical world. Field visits enable students to observe things from close quarters, providing practical knowledge that bridges the gap between appearance and reality. Students visit historical and cultural sites, as well as public and private business centers, preparing reports and presentations afterward.

Group Work

Our classes are interactive, based on child-friendly teaching modalities that emphasize teamwork. Students collaborate as family members, fostering innovation through collective learning.

Project Work

As we uphold our slogan "Innovative Education," we place significant emphasis on project work. Students engage in projects either individually or in teams, culminating in reports and group presentations. We encourage students to complete at least one project per subject when required.

Counseling

We understand the various challenges students face, which can lead to stress and socialization difficulties. To support their well-being, UN School provides a school nurse and a counselor for personalized guidance.

Interaction with Experts

Our facilitators and faculty members are well-versed in the curriculum, but we also believe in learning from external experts. Students interact with professionals from diverse fields through guest lectures, gaining insight into the skills required for success.
